Vampire Burt’s Serenade Review

This movie starts out as immature as any movie trying to take advantage of as much its rating as its genre (Horror/comedy/musical). But once the tone set in it reminded me of Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter directed by Darren Lynn Bouseman (in terms of the quality and musical elements). It mostly felt like whatever budget they had was set on having it done for fun rather than aiming to be professional (there was even a lazy man’s Thriller homage, though it wasn’t as apparent as the Brady Bunch one). Yeah, it definitely goes too far in some parts, yet the horror/comedy elements felt strangely effective despite being sparing. What it lacks in tonal coherence it more than makes up for in humor, spirit, and a fair amount of conviction if not creativity. Plus the scenes with the zombies, and the fight in the drug room during the climax, was something that transcended gold, platinum, or even diamond.
