The Phantom Hour Review
For the most part it was a fun, if only mildly, scary diversion. When it knows how to be a horror movie it does it immediately yet surely. When it knows how to be a comedy it shifts from hilariously over-the-top to tastelessly (and even agressively, as a result of the same excess) dry. I'm not really familiar with German expressionism, but the set design does give a subtle yet still effective kind of atmosphere. It aims as high as it can with its 8 minutes and hits more than it misses as a unique horror comedy.
