The Last Wave Review
To this day I still never really understood this movie. Yeah, it’s about a guy who seems to clash with someone of an aboriginal tribe who committed a crime. On one hand it’s fairly atmospheric and, like Wendigo does with American folklore, does elaborate on how “dreaming” is a part of Australia’s Aboriginal culture (at least from what I can recollect). It also seems to be up for interpretation around the end as one never really does manage to distinguish between reality and fiction. Overall it’s certainly a more mature kind of terror that is more based on an eery feel for even its time than what is usually qualified for its genre (especially during the 70s).
