Most of the time they make rides about movies, sometimes it's vice versa. When it works we get stuff like the first two Pirates of The Caribbean movies (not that I intend on delving into that director's previous film). When it doesn't we get a movie like the Haunted Mansion. There really isn't anything else to say, if you remember a book that you loved yet hated the adaptation for then this is the connection between the ride and the movie as well. Anything else I can really add is that, even though I didn't even see it, Mr. Murphy was at least in a previous horror film, Vampire in Brooklyn, which was helmed by Craven.

If only I could say his prior experience in the genre was The Haunted Mansion's saving grace.
