My horror movie reviews

Splice Review

This is both a good and unconventional science fiction horror movie. For the most part it plays it straight and, like the best, the horror comes naturally (at least up until a bit of the falling action when it almost goes full slasher). I mean hey, it was about a decade ago when the only thing I had to describe it was this: "Remember the baby from Eraserhead? Well imagine if it DID grow up". The CG does take some time to accept, especially since we're introduced to it within the first five minutes or so. Although I just think that adds to the film's theme on how far we are set to experiment on things (living or not) before they go awol.

Almost as if it knows it's (also) foreshadowing the way we view Dren as unrealistic until everything gets too real.
