My horror movie reviews

Skinamarink Review

...The only thing that's not making it too hard from reviewing this movie is the borderline unrelated coincidence that I saw Begotten for the first time in 2021. Cause let me tell ya: Skinamarink and Begotten are not only both Experimental horror but certainly break new ground somehow. I mean hey, it certainly finds a way to make more with less. One moment it makes an art out of ambiguity the next it seems pretty effective at harnessing an unpredictable sort of horror, especially if you stick around long enough. This even more as it feels very post-found footage (which makes sense since it takes place in Blair Witch Project's decade). My only personal criticism may be that it doesn't pull off the lack of soundtrack as well as In a Violent Nature. Mostly because there are bits where the "supernatural" elements hold their own sound effects, if not leitmotifs, anyway. Otherwise I can't say I wasn't perplexed by its own form of immersion. Obviously I lack enough (proper) horror movie experience on its own to detect the director's influences/technique all throughout. But horror is horror, regardless of my uncultured Point of View.
