My horror movie reviews

Lord of Illusions Review

Stephen King once said “I have seen the future of horror and it is Clive Barker”. I feel as though Clive Barker saw Wes Craven’s new Nightmare and thought the exact opposite of the latter. That or Mr. Barker made Lord of Illusions as a coping mechanism towards the fact Hellraiser could never get the same treatment with how popular it has been throughout the years compared to Nightmare on Elm street (at least quantity-wise). As a horror movie it has a few scary moments here and there, though it may be because the film’s intriguing yet fitting substance wants them to make sense within the narrative rather than serve as a gimmick. It’s certainly one of those movies with an interesting story that only conveniently (if not in a just-so-happens sort of manner) fits as a horror movie. It can still be said, if not agreed, that despite technically being his final film, Mr. Barker’s experience shines on the most here and at least gets some points for really making it count.
