My horror movie reviews

King Kong (1933) Review

It would seem that 30s standards would deem this a horror movie. I mean it makes sense when you think about how it was essentially a Pre-code film and movies of that era got away with one thing or another. Though even then I kind of think Peter Jackson’s remake was a better horror movie, despite not being the original’s fault (and I’m not even going to delve into Skull Island). After all there are violent scenes in the latter that don’t need an R rating but would still be bad for minors. I guess it’s a horror movie for the same reason The Lost Boys, Shaun of the Dead, Annihilation, The Happiness of the Katakuris, Nope, or even Killer Klowns from Outer Space is: it’s a hybrid genre rather than working with just one. Either way if you’ve seen any newer iterations that are good then I hardly see the point in wanting to return to this one.
