It Follows Review
What initially sold me on this movie (unsurprisingly) was a review on the trailer stating how it was the most inspired horror movie since The Cabin in The Woods. While they’re certainly entirely different movies It Follows was still good and inspired for its own reasons. For one the premise felt like something that was less belonging to the 80s and more inspired by them (at least at their worst). It’s this detail that reminded me how the 90s themselves, specifically Scream, deconstructed this similar idea in horror movies by having it be the main reason as to why the killer gets to you. The difference with It Follows is that it not only serves as the main reason but adds as much of a psychological twist as a supernatural one. The music was also top notch as it aims to transport you back to the 80s while Scream only aimed to remind you that they happened.
