Icons of horror 3 Review

The last Icons of horror video, prior to this one, came out around 2017. Watching this installment reminded me of what happened in between the time it took to make it: the world was introduced to The Merkins. To put it plainly they were to 70s-90s slashers to what Abbot and Costello were to classic movie monsters (or at least Weird Al was to popular music from the 80s to most of the 10s). Meaning that the time for taking slashers seriously had finally come to an end (unless the directors of 2018’s Halloween, 2021’s Candyman, or 2022’s Scream were willing to make the painstaking effort in adapting to the times in ways that even they knew invited controversy). So in the best way possible this had essentially evolved (if it can’t really be reduced any further than these slashers had already been during their “heydays”) into something Smosh would’ve made a decade ago if they were horror buffs. The reason I see this as an improvement is because this less is more approach allowed Icons of Horror 3 to extract the best of the first two installments by only cutting the runtime in half. In conclusion if this is as good as it gets for these icons of horror then it was worth the wait.
