Icons of horror 2 Review

On one hand it has the quality of a good Syfy pictures original TV movie (or at least a competent one) this time around. On the other hand the charm of the first one (and it’s hokey acting) don't seem to be a good fit for this upgrade. Don’t get me wrong, I want to like it thanks to the same competent story, borderline inspired action, visual splendor, and the fact that they manage to get Candyman, Darkman and Hannibal Lecter to appear somehow. Plus the fight between Pinhead and Freddy Krueger is almost why nerdgasms were invented. Yet despite apparently taking four years to make, the earnestness of the original feels replaced by those same systematic limitations of an assembly line mindset that probably caused all these slashers, and their original popularity, to go extinct in the first place. Overall, whether a fanfilm or a Hollywood film, this definitely proves that doubling the budget can come at the cost of half the original’s heart unless it would’ve been given the proper amount of time (and care to accommodate the cost) for it to work out.
