Final Destination 5 Review

I remember mostly being excited by this movie because someone who worked on Avatar contributed to the special effects. But what ultimately differentiated this movie were a number of factors. One was the way it handled red herrings to surprise us with the way characters are axed off for a change. Two was what I can only assume was the most clever throwback twist we would have yet to see in the fifth part of a movie until Scream. And finally the way it turns the formula around by having there be a physical killer rather than basing it on accidents by the third act in order to try something different and have it work out. Make no mistake, this is still very much a Final Destination movie. It’s just the part 5 to the franchise in the same way that Fast Five was: unwilling to be bad when they’ve set the bar low enough.
