My horror movie reviews

Crimes of the Future Review

With the exception of the abrupt ending this was pretty good. Yeah, it’s idiosyncratic to a fault, and the scenes that are meant to be straight up horror (all two of them involving Dani and Berst) feel surprisingly out of place in its already body horror based vibe. However, Mr. Cronenberg shows he’s made an art-form out of this genre to the point some scenes shift from 80s aesthetic to mid 90s. In fact throw in one quick scene with Ron Perlman as a dealer or something and this will feel right at home with his other vehicles like Cronos or City of Lost Children. Overall the one thought that loomed about this film is how mature it was for its body horror sub-genre that, much like the zombie, or found footage one, almost doesn’t feel that much like horror.
