My horror movie reviews

Blood C: The Last Dark Review

In 2015 I saw an anime called Blood C. It was so over-the-top and gruesome that I spared myself the movie. Now a decade later I decided to watch it anyway. I can get one thing out of the way: while Vampire Hunter D doesn't exactly get under your skin, Blood C well...yeah...it more like starts at your bones. Granted, in some parts it feels like it's a spiritual remake of VHD for the 10s, which let's be real, if you've seen the show like I have you'd know it's overqualified for horror this time around (not that there's such thing, at least not objectively). Though for one the budget is definitely expanded by tenfold. The action flat out makes Vampire Hunter D look like Yellow Submarine (no offence). And just when you think it's still missing the horror that was at least present in the show, just see if you can prepare yourself for the climax. Honestly it's a slow burn given its run time of a hundred minutes.

Except for the spontaneous moment or two when it gives you unexpected third, if not fourth, degree burns once you've made it far enough.
