My horror movie reviews

Black Swan (2010) review

The first thing that came into my mind when first seeing it was how it ripped off a great movie from a great director: 2008's The Wrestler. Seriously, how Mr. Aronofsky hasn't sued the director of Black Swan for essentially making an artsy, well choreographed ballet version of his film proves how there's no justice in this world. In fact it almost even rips off Aronofsky's other film, Pi, by mixing horrors of the bodies (be it brains or feathers) with the psychological chills. I'll forgive this film just once because Portman's performance was on par with (if not rendered entirely subpar) that of Mickey Rourke's. But tsk tsk either way for not only partially pioneering the postmodern psychological horror yet practically inspiring films like Whiplash or even Last Night in Soho in terms of the horrors of obsession, perfectionism, and the pitfalls of extreme competence.
