Birdemic 2 The Resurrection Review

There was something beautifully (yet oddly) symbolic about the way this movie played out. As though in reality this film felt more like a recorded performance piece (with intentionally bad cgi) than a legitimate movie. The first Birdemic looked like they just did what they could with the budget allotted and aimed to make what they could regardless of as much the result in the movie as the appeal. It could almost be said it was made for fun despite the intentions being incapable of reflecting them. In a way Birdemic 2 also feels like it’s also for fun while still trying to aim high despite coming down just as low (if not lower) due to the newfound awareness of its strengths. The difference here is that the visuals and overall situations seem to do a better job at depicting the film’s message than the first Birdemic’s spoken exposition. This works to both its benefit as its detriment as, although it doesn’t garner the first film’s identity (at least not by too much) nor does it garner its charm. That’s not to say it’s still bad as it does, in a way, play out as a darker yet slightly more expanded (if not polished) update on the first film’s late 90s appeal. Just remember what you got from the first film and expect nothing more than five times the budget.
