An American Werewolf in London Review

It took me a while to finally see this movie, but I finally managed. The first thing I can add is that obviously I saw Thriller, the MJ music video first, seeing as it was also directed by John Landis a few years later. As for this movie I can't help but add that even for a horror movie the people are remarkably sensible for being set in London. That and, thanks to that same comedy/horror mixed wih the 70s holdover, the English and American sense of humor blends fairly well in my opinion. Granted there are some earnest genre set pieces from a sidetracking nightmare involving demon soldiers to the post-exploitative nature of the werewolf's violence. Eitherway the immersion is impressively mounted, so it could've been worse. Plus the transformation sequence is pretty well done in an age where CG can almost give the same effect.
